Creater of sea shepherd conservation society and seen on the show Whale Wars, The warrant for Captain Watson’s arrest is politically motivated and possibly due to an incident in which Sea Shepherd uncovered an illegal shark finning operation.
We need him, he is one of the only people making a true effort to stop the unfair slaughter of marine animals and directly protects our oceans, you can help him!

one of the thousands of boats out each and every day. 250,000 sharks are killed each day for their fins.
how can this population be sustainable?. easy: its NOT!
sharks have been here for millions of years before us, just because were a more intelligent species doesnt makes us the only important one, nor does it give us the right right to wipe a species off the of the earth.
If you went in a forest with a 30 mile line of hooks baited with salt, caught thousands of deer and dragged them along until they got to the hunter where the deer’s limbs were to be cut off while alive, and just leave the animal to die and bleed to death in the forest.
Would that last? certainly not, what is the difference between a deer and a shark? Is one’s life worth more than the other?
5% of his body being used, the rest tossed away. his fins cut off while still alive until he bleeds to death and suffocates while sinking to the ocean floor because he can no longer swim to move water through his gills. Many shark populations have declined up to 90%, they are apex predators and vital to the ocean ecosystem. Is a tasteless soup worth destroying an ecosystem?
Every 90 minutes, over 15,000 sharks are brutally slaughtered.
mako shark:
fastest shark in the world, still alive while its limbs are cut off so it can be thrown back in to die. 250,000 sharks die every day.
SHARK POPULATIONS HAVE DECLINED UP TO 90%
MARINE TURTLES AND DUGONGS BUTCHERED ALIVE IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA.
I didn’t think i’d ever find something more inhumane than shark finning, then i found this.

A short documentary about the Tide that is Turning against Shark Fin. The short film highlights how nations, cities and people around the globe are saying No
I run this blog myself, in an attempt to preserve this incredible fish, i cannot live my life and say i didn't atleast try in some way.
Over 80 MILLION sharks are slaughtered every year for the chinese delicacy of shark fin soup. 250 THOUSAND SHARKS ARE KILLED EACH DAY. It is an extremely cruel practise as their fins are simply cut-off while still alive and the sharks are thrown back in the water to die... How would you like it if someone cut off your limbs and threw you on the street? Not only is this practise cruel, but it is also wasteful as only 5% of the sharks body is used. Keep in mind that these fins are simply dried cartilage, and they are tasteless. The soup is enhanced with meats like beef or chicken and the cartilage simply gives the soup a jellied texture.
SHARK POPULATIONS HAVE DECLINED FROM 75%, AND UP TO 95% IN CERTAIN SPECIES!
SHARK FINNING WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON US:
Sharks are the Apex predator in the ecosystem, if sharks are removed it can only have devastating effects. We will see things such as fish species populations declining, as well as plant populations increasing. These are only few of the devastating effects that we may face in the near future.
If you are "Pro Shark Finning" because you are simply afraid of sharks, keep in mind you are much more likely to be struck by lightning than ever being attacked by a shark.
Sharks are not veracious man-eaters, most attacks are one bite and then they swim away. Sharks do not have arms and hands to feel something, biting is the only way they can distinguish something as they are very curious animals.
If you think that shark finning is no different than animals being killed in slaughter houses every year, you are wrong. Slaughterhouse live stock are bred in order to be eaten, and do not affect the wild population of the animal. Because they are bred in captivity, they do not hold a niche in the ecosystem. Sharks on the other hand, cannot be bred in captivity, therefore we cannot kill as many as some people are hungry for.
I am not saying to completely stop shark finning, but to simply bring it down to a SUSTAINABLE level... 250,000 A DAY IS NOT SUSTAINABLE.
Help keep these amazing pre-historic fish around for many years to come.
